Amanda Rose is an ambassador of yoga and holistic wellness. She has been a successful yoga teacher, personal trainer and fitness instructor for over a decade. After growing tired of working for corporate gyms, she started her own wellness company, Amanda Rose Wellness, helping people achieve their individual health goals.
She was also a competitive champion boxer but after winning the NY Golden Gloves, she traded her gloves for a yoga mat. Amanda found that the same level of concentration and discipline that boxing required also helped her focus on the mat. She studies the lineages
of Iyengar and Ashtanga and combines both traditions in her classes. Amanda teaches fundamental poses linked with breath awareness while going deep into proper alignment. It is a physical experience with an emphasis on finding ease, cultivating self-love, expanding awareness.
Aside from being a devoted yoga practitioner, Amanda is a prenatal specialist, Lululemon ambassador, doula, world- traveler and graduate of Columbia University. In addition, she created Backyard Yoga, her own unique garden studio in Manhattan.
Sebastian Alappat has always had a passion for creativity. After having spent over 14 years as an Art Director & Designer, he now lives his dream of being of an artist.
In 2013, he began the Sketch 365 project, a daily practice of making art. At the year's end, he hosted his first ever solo show, The Backyard Art Show. The practice of yoga freed him from the safety net of a full-time job and gave him the courage to devote himself fully to art. He has since continued to create and display art using a variety of mediums such as oils, watercolors, pen & ink, kraft maché and more. In addition to his art practice he is illustrating his first children's book this year.
Building upon his love of art and affinity for children, Sebastian launched SPARK, a New York City based art education program for children. He also recently became Wee Yogi ® certified to teach yoga to children. Following that he completed the Mission Be mindful educator training. He has ran two years of Spark Summer Camp in Manhattan's Upper West Side.
After attending many yoga retreats and experiencing their magic firsthand, we decided to team up, merge our passions and create our own. The goal was to bring a fresh perspective to the oversaturated yoga retreat market and with that intention, Wellness Retreats was born. By adding dynamic art classes and unforgettable adventures in addition to powerful yoga and meditation, we have created unique retreats unlike any other.
We believe that when you submerge yourself in nature with high quality yoga, freedom to create, thrilling adventures with nourishing food with kind, supportive people, deep transformation + healing can occur. We hold the space for you to face fears, find forgiveness, cultivate courage and transcend self-limiting beliefs. You will return refreshed, renewed, realigned with friends that you will be bonded with for life.
